Good News For Students Of Asian Countries, PhD Fellowship Program Begins

New Delhi There is good news for students from Asian countries. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar Prasad has launched a PhD fellowship program at IIT for students from Asian countries. Its program was organized in Nehru Bhavan. A portal was also started to create awareness among the students from where the applications of the students can be received. 

Selection will be done in three batches

The program will select 1,000 students in three batches. A senior official of the Ministry of Human Resource Development said that the government will spend Rs 300 crore for this fully funded PhD program for students from ASEAN (Organization of South East Asian Countries) countries. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi will be the coordinating agency for the event, which will select 1,000 students over the next three years. “250 students will be selected this year, 300 students next year and 450 students next year,” the ministry official said.

Ministry of Human Resource Development has contributed

The Ministry of Human Resource Development is providing all the funds for the program and the Ministry of External Affairs is a partner in this to make it popular by contacting Asian countries. The member countries of Asian include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippine, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
