The Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) has advised people to take special instructions while buying fruits and vegetables. - Whatever fruit or vegetables you are buying at home, keep the packet in a separate place for some time before use.
- Use lukewarm water to wash fruits and vegetables. If necessary, just one drop of 50ppm chlorine can be used in a tub of warm water to disinfect vegetables.
- Vegetables should be cleaned with drinking water so that you do not need to work hard while cooking.
- Detergent is for cleaning clothes and for cleaning disinfectant floor, furniture etc. Sanitizer is more effective for hands and skin. It is not advisable to use disinfectant spray or use soap on food items. Disinfectants can harm the quality of fruits and vegetables. Use only fresh water to clean them.
- If you have cleaned the vegetables properly then there is absolutely no need to bother whether you can store them in the refrigerator or refrigerator. Do not store vegetables or fruits in the freezer. Items that may be spoiled should be stored in the refrigerator, the remaining vegetables can be stored in baskets or racks at room temperature.
