Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank Now Human Resource Development Minister

Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and Haridwar Lok Sabha MP Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has been handed over the reins of Human Resource Development Ministry. For a long time, the state and the Center, who remained away from power, has finally received a big gift with great responsibility. He took the oath of education minister on Thursday at the oath ceremony.

Dr. Nishank was born on July 15, 1958, at Pinani village in Pauri district of Uttarakhand. He has obtained a bachelor’s degree from Hemvati Bahuguna Garhwal University. Apart from this, Ph.D. (Hons) and D. Lit (Hons) have also done. In addition to political work, he has also served as a teacher in the Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh based in Joshimath.

For the first time, Dr. Nishank, elected from the Karnpraag Assembly in 1991, started his political career as a legislator. He also won this seat in 1993 and 1996. Between 1991 and 2009, he has been appointed to higher posts in many departments.

In 2009, he was elected the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. This time, he has made a special place in the Union Cabinet by defeating his rival Congress candidate Ambrish Kumar by 2,54,786 votes in Haridwar seat.

Nishank’s Political Journey

– 1991 – Three consecutive MLAs from Karnaprayag

– 1997 – Cabinet minister in Kalyan Singh cabinet in Uttar Pradesh.

– 1999 – Minister of Culture and Tourism in the Government of Ram Prakash Gupta.

– 2000 – In the new Uttarakhand government, he was made a minister of 12 departments, including finance, revenue, taxes, drinking water.

– 2007 – Uttarakhand’s Medical Health and Science Technology Minister was elected.

– 2009 – Chief Minister of Uttarakhand elected

– 2012 – Become legislator from Doiwala of Dehradun.

– 2014 – Become the Speaker of the Government Assurances Committee from Haridwar Lok Sabha Constituency and Lok Sabha.
