Farmer Protests: Which routes do not go or which path to use, Delhi Police is giving information to such people

Read Time:3 Minute, 37 Second

Many borders of Delhi have been closed due to the peasant movement. Because of this people are facing trouble. The police has allowed the farmers to protest in Nirankari Maidan, but the farmers are still frozen on the Delhi border. This has increased the problem of traffic police. Rahul Chauhan spoke to Dr Ajit Kumar Singla , Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Outer Zone about the arrangements made by Traffic Police to ensure that there is no problem with traffic and essential goods in Delhi . Here are the highlights of the conversation:

1. What arrangement has the Traffic Police made regarding the farmers who came for the movement in Delhi?

– Delhi has 15 borders. Traffic police personnel have been deployed at all. Due to the closure of many routes, there should be no jam at other places, for this, traffic police personnel are deployed everywhere. Also, people are being informed about the roads that are closed, through the Twitter handle of the traffic police, that they should not go on these routes or which route should be used.

3. Road accidents also occur due to fog in winter. In most cases they are caused by vehicles without indicators and reflectors. Is there any special preparation in this regard?

– Between nine and 12 o’clock in the night, the traffic police checks all the vehicles in the circle. During this period, anyone found to be in violation of traffic rules is invoiced. Vehicles without reflectors are also challaned. Also, an effort is made to make people aware through advertisement.

4. It has been observed in the figures that there are more accidents on the intersections where the traffic police is not present, what should be the arrangement at such intersections?

In view of the number force of traffic police, an effort is made to deploy traffic police at maximum intersections. It is not possible to deploy 24 hours at any intersection. Hence deployment takes place at different intersections at different times. Also, zonal officers also keep checking at intersections.

5. At night, in most places, traffic police personnel are not stationed or where they live, they stay away from the barrier, because of this, the drivers are fiercely violating the rules.

Traffic police does not put barriers on the road. When the investigation is done during the night, the traffic police investigate the matter between 9 am and 12 am and take action against those who break the rules.

6. Does the Transport Police get the support of the Transport Department in taking action against illegal vehicles?

– The Enforcement Squad of the Transport Department is different. He takes action from place to place. The traffic police is fine with them. They take action and the traffic police take action.

7. How vigilant are the traffic police to get the speed breakers, CCTV cameras, white strips, street lights, foot overbridges, red lights needed for road safety from the concerned departments to correct them?

– All arrangements are periodically checked by the Traffic Police and they are maintained properly. Apart from this, if there is any lack of road safety by any social organization or people of the area, then we try to remove it as soon as possible.

8. What resources does the Traffic Police currently lack?

– Traffic Police has most of the resources. In addition, if some more resources are found then the traffic system can be strengthened further. In some areas, CCTV cameras and cameras to catch red light violations have been installed. If their number increases further, the traffic system will be stronger.

9. Campaigns like traffic week or month are run once a year. Do you think they have some effect on people, if yes, should their numbers be increased?

In addition to the traffic week and month, people are made aware by road safety department not to drive at high speed, to walk in their lane and not to turn red light. The only difference is that during the traffic week these activities increase slightly.

10. The penalty for violation of traffic rules in the new Motor Vehicles Act has been increased manifold. Has this caused fear in people? Is there any reduction in violation of rules?

Certainly by increasing fines, people now avoid violations of the rules. However, still a large number of rules are violated and millions of invoices are deducted.
