Domestic Violence Increases During Lockdown In Britain, 4,093 People Arrested In Six Weeks

Read Time:1 Minute, 39 Second

This concern of the United Nations has increased the domestic violence in lockdown during the corona virus, proving to be correct. This can be gauged from the fact that 4,093 people have been arrested by the police for crimes of domestic violence in the UK in just six weeks. This figure shows that more than 100 people have been arrested in domestic violence in one day. Let us tell you that a United Nations report a few days ago said that the domestic violence in the world has increased in the lockdown during corona virus. The organization had also expressed concern over this and appealed to the people to live in peace during the lockdown.

Commander Sue Williams, head of the security department, said violence in Britain increased by 24 per cent over the previous year. This figure is as of March 9. These situations have arisen when a lockdown is underway in Britain to prevent the corona virus. Police say domestic violence increased by 9 percent from March 9 to April 19. However, police said that domestic violence arising out of family strife is not classified as a crime. Scotland Yard said it also recorded two deaths related to domestic violence. Police cited a case that a pregnant woman refused to go home due to domestic violence.

Domestic violence cases in France have increased by 36 percent since the lockdown to prevent Corona’s infection. To control cases of domestic violence, the government has appealed the victims to stay in hotels, start pop-up counseling centers and ask the women to move out of the house to buy groceries. Police in Britain have arranged silent calls for people suffering from domestic violence. Police have said that victims of domestic violence can give information about this by calling silent on the emergency number 999. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said that the Google search of people seeking help has increased by 75 percent since the start of the lockdown.
