Massive drop in pollution levels due to strong wind
At the same time, a day after Diwali, the rain on Sunday and the strong wind blowing on Monday led to a huge drop in pollution levels in Delhi-NCR. Because of this, the air quality was recorded in the severe to poor category as well. However, the quality of Delhi’s climate improved in the evening. Therefore, the Air Quality Index (AQI) 199 was recorded at 7 pm.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the rainfall in Delhi-NCR on Sunday evening and the northeast wind moving at a speed of 12 to 16 km per hour on Monday resulted in a drop in pollution levels. On 17 November, the air quality is likely to be in the poor category.
Reduction in stubble burning
According to Safar India, 282 incidents of stubble burning occurred in Haryana and Punjab on Sunday. However, due to the cloud in the sky it was difficult to get the correct picture from the satellite. Nevertheless, the role of burning stubble in Delhi’s pollution remained about one percent. According to Safar India, the air quality of Delhi-NCR on November 18 and 19 may remain in very poor category.
