Debit Card Fraud: Keep these 10 things in mind to avoid fraud on your card
As the practice of withdrawing money through ATM usage has increased, so too has the incidence of fraud on debit card or credit. Apart from this, if you shop through a debit card or shop online at a shop, then the chances of fraud on the debit card are increased. However, banks periodically alert their customers about fraud. Banks keep telling their customers some ways to secure money. It is often said on behalf of banks that customers should conduct ATM transactions in complete secrecy to avoid any ATM-cum-debit card fraud. Apart from this, there are some tips on which debit card, or credit card fraud can be prevented. Let us know which are those tips.
1) Whenever visiting an ATM or POS machine, use your hand to cover the keypad when using an ATM card.
2) Never share your PIN / Card details.
3) Keep your transaction receipt separate so as not to see.
4) Never write PIN on your card.
5) Do not reply to any email or call for details or PIN of your card.
6) Do not create your PIN from your birthday, phone or account number.
7) Avoid keypad manipulation, perform heat mapping when using an ATM or POS machine.
8) Do single transaction in ATM, ask the person behind you to go out.
9) Whenever you start your transaction, first check the spy cameras thoroughly.
10) Be sure to sign up for transaction alerts.
Due to lack of money in ATM or due to malfunction in ATM, many times transactions fail. There is no need to worry or panic, because the bank will deposit the amount in your account within a specified time. According to a public awareness initiative of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), ‘if your ATM transaction is unsuccessful and your bank does not reverse the money debited to your account for a certain period, you will get the compensation.
Customers, if they are dissatisfied with banking services, can register their complaint on the Compliance Management System (CMS) portal of RBI. For this, customers have to go to cms.rbi.org.in.
