Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 67 runs and returned to the ODI International on Monday after 10 years in Karachi. Earlier in the one-day match at the National Stadium in Karachi, on 21 January 2009, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 129 runs. With this, Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The first match of the current series was rained down.

Babar Azam scored a century

Pakistan made a strong score of 305/7 runs thanks to Babar Azam’s century innings. Azam scored 115 runs in 105 balls. This is his 11th ODI century. Babar also completed 1,000 ODI international runs (in 19 matches) in the current calendar year. He is the fifth batsman and the first Pakistan batsman to complete 1,000 runs in this calendar year. Before Azam, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Aaron Finch, and Usman Khwaja have completed a thousand runs.

Many prominent Sri Lankan players did not go on tour

Several prominent Sri Lankan players are out of the tour due to security concerns. The Sri Lankan team, chasing a big target of 306 runs, collapsed for 238 runs in 46.5 overs. Shehan Jayasuriya (96) missed the first ODI century and Dasun Shanaka scored a career-best 68 runs.

The 25-year-old left-arm fast bowler Usman Shenwari (5/51) broke Sri Lanka’s inexperienced top order and before the 177-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Jayasuriya and Shanaka, the visiting team conceded their 5 wickets for just 28 runs. Lost Before winning the toss and batting, Pakistan Fakhar Zaman (54) and Imam ul Haq (31) started well and added 73 runs for the first wicket.

Sri Lanka won the heart of Pakistanis

Sri Lanka lost this match, but it won the hearts of Pakistanis. The third and final match of the series will be played on Wednesday in Karachi itself. After this, both teams will play a three-match T20 series in Lahore.

After a long time, no international team has come to play in Pakistan. Since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lanka team in 2009, many countries have not visited Pakistan. Pakistan is trying to restore international cricket and play in its home with all the countries.
