No vaccine against the corona virus (vaccine) has been developed yet, but the government has begun extensive preparations for vaccination. Various aspects have been discussed for this. It has been decided that the corona vaccine will be vaccinated in health centers as well as Anganwadi centers, schools, panchayat buildings and other similar premises. The Union Health Ministry will monitor the entire campaign through its digital platform. A QR Code will also be issued for the beneficiaries.
The expert group on the Corona epidemic has drawn up a roadmap for the vaccination campaign after extensive consultation. Accordingly, state governments will have to identify buildings that can be used as booths to vaccinate under a special corona virus vaccination campaign. The campaign will run parallel to the current Global Immunization Campaign (UIP).
Sources said that the existing digital platform of the Ministry of Health, EVIN (Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network) has been modified according to the needs of the corona vaccination campaign. Through this, the distribution and supply of vaccines will be monitored. Beneficiaries will be given time and booth information to vaccinate via SMS. Their complete information will also be kept by issuing QR codes, so that they can be contacted if needed.
Campaign will link to Aadhaar
The beneficiary base will be linked to this campaign so that no person gets vaccinated twice. Those who will not have Aadhaar, they can use photo identity card issued by the government.
UIP facilities will be used
Government sources said that when the corona vaccine becomes available, the procedures, technology and network of the UIP will be used for its distribution and supply. Through EVIN, moment-to-moment information about vaccine stocks and cold chain temperature will be obtained.
Center will buy vaccine
Sources said that the central government will buy vaccines directly from companies for the Corona vaccination campaign. State governments are prohibited from procuring vaccines. The Center will provide vaccines to all the states and union territories across the country.
Risk group priority
On behalf of the central government, states and union territories have been asked to identify 30 crore beneficiaries who fall in priority groups in the initial phase. These include health workers, municipal corporation employees, policemen, elderly and people suffering from serious diseases. All these will be vaccinated for free.
