Coronavirus Vaccine Update: Know why children have to wait for Covid-19 vaccine
Coronavirus Vaccine Update: Jamia Millia Islamia held an online discussion on Friday in connection with the centenary year celebrations, in which Dr. Rafi Ahmed, an immunologist and director of the Emory Vaccine Center in Atlanta, US, met the media. On this occasion, he said that at present there are hopes of relief from three to four vaccines, but they will remain effective for three to four months after the vaccine is applied. As far as the vaccine for children is concerned, it will still take a long time.
No vaccine trial conducted on children
Dr. Rafi Ahmed said that all the companies which are currently preparing Corona vaccine have been tried on adults. There have not been trials on children yet. Trials have to be started to develop a children’s vaccine. However, he said that it is a matter of relief that Covid-19 has not seen much impact on children.
Dr. Rafi Ahmed said that vaccine is being talked about in the coming few months. But how effective this vaccine is, it cannot be said right now. It is believed that the vaccine will remain effective for up to 4 months. Immunity will prove to be decisive in subsequent circumstances. However, vaccine booster doses can be given to prevent corona. Regarding tourism from one country to another for vaccines, he said that no government has yet formulated a concrete strategy in this regard.
Who should get the vaccine in the discussion? In response to this question, he said that health workers are the first priority in almost all countries. Also, elderly and people suffering from serious diseases also need vaccine. Vaccine distribution in India is challenging. The area and population of the country is more. In such a situation, the facility of freeze is essential to keep the corona vaccine safe.
