Coronavirus Vaccine News: Preparation of vaccination in the country, how to register, they will get priority
Vaccination preparations are in the final stages to eliminate the corona virus. In the first phase, 300 million people are to be given two doses of the vaccine by July 2021. Oxford-AstraZeneca’s vaccine Kovishield has been approved for emergency use, but has assured to provide only 300 million doses by July. Now the question arises that from where will the remaining 30 crore doses come? From where will the government arrange this?
Where will the 300 million doses of vaccine come for 15 crore people: The Serum Institute has assured the government to supply 300 million doses of Kovishield by July 2021. Since each person is to be given two doses of the vaccine, the supply of covishield will allow only 15 crore people to be vaccinated. Harshal R. Salve, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, AIIMS, says: “We have to give a green signal to another vaccine to be included in the community vaccination.” The success of the vaccination campaign seems to depend on the success of the covicin.
No agreement with other companies: India has not already tied up with vaccine manufacturers such as Pfizer or Moderna to purchase the vaccine. However, negotiations are on for procurement and production with both companies. Pfizer has also sought emergency clearance in India. Currently, both companies are in high demand for the vaccine. In such a situation, if India approves the vaccine of these companies in a hurry, then there will be a possibility of taking time to come here.
Necessary for herd immunity: Vaccination of at least 70 percent population is necessary for development of herd immunity against Vovid-19. In such a situation, 90 crore people in India have to be given two doses of vaccine. If anyone else gets the green signal, 180 million doses of corona vaccine will be needed for 90 crore people.
Most relied on these vaccines: Two developing vaccines in India, Kovishield and Kovaxin, have received the green signal for emergency use. The production of Kovishield in India is being carried out by the Serum Institute, while Bharat Biotech has joined hands with the Indian Council of Medicine (ICMR) for covaxine. The Expert Committee of the Central Drug Standards Control Organization had recommended allowing for the emergency use of the covishield.
Vaccination preparations in full swing: Vaccination preparations are going on in the country. Cold stores, freezers, refrigerators, deep freezers etc. have been purchased and have been supplied to the states. Arrangements for storage of vaccines are being made at airports and railway stations.
How to get corona vaccine: The government has planned to vaccinate 300 million people in eight months. Dry run is going on for this. Vaccination preparations were tested in the country on Saturday. Vaccination can begin anytime.
They will get priority: About one crore health workers in government and private sector will be given priority in vaccination. However, for this the recommendation of the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for COVID-19 (NEGVAC) will be important. The priority category will include Integrated Child Development Services personnel, nurses, supervisors, medical officers, paramedical staff, support staff and students working in the frontline. Their data is being collected.
Here’s how to register: Register yourself on the Kovin website. After this, upload the photo identity card or Aadhaar issued by the government. This will be confirmed through a biometric or OTP system. After registration, the date and time for vaccination will be allotted. Registration will not be done on the spot.
Police and Corporation Personnel: The personnel of State and Central Police Force, Home Guards, Disaster Management and Civil Organization personnel, Jail personnel, Bodies personnel, Revenue personnel etc. will be given priority in vaccination. Their number is about two crore.
