Corona: Another dangerous form, Britain arrived from South Africa
Another new variant of the corona virus has been found in Britain, which is more dangerous than the previous new variants.
Britain’s Health Minister Matt Hancock said on Wednesday that two cases of corona virus with new variants have been reported.
This new variant of the corona virus was first found in South Africa.
In Britain, two people who have been confirmed to have been infected, had recently visited South Africa.
According to Matt Hancock, this new variant found in South Africa is faster and more mutated than the new variant found in Britain.
He described the spread of this variant as ‘very worrisome’.
Traveling to South Africa has been banned for now in view of current concerns.
In addition, people who have returned or come in contact with South Africa in the last 15 days have been instructed to immediately go to Quarantine.
This new variant of the corona virus has also become a matter of serious concern in South Africa.
South Africa’s Health Minister, Zweli Mikhais, said that “young and healthy people are also falling ill,” falling prey to this new variant.
He said that “the country cannot go through the difficult phase that had passed in the early days of the AIDS epidemic.”
At the same time, South African scientists have said that the new variant is spreading ‘very fast’ and it has badly hit many parts of the country.
Currently, this variant of the corona virus is being studied, but according to the information that has been revealed so far, it spreads many times more quickly.
The first case of this new variant was found in Britain on Tuesday.
The new variant found in South Africa is similar to the new variant found in Britain, although both have evolved separately.
Both variants have a mutation called N501Y which affects the cells of the body.
Meanwhile, a record 39,237 cases of Covid-19 were reported in Britain in the last 24 hours.
Professor Neil Ferguson of Imperial College London said, “I think our biggest concern at the moment is about the South African variants.”
“There have been reports of the rapid spread of that virus and the number of cases is increasing rapidly.”
Speaking to the media on Downing Street, British Health Minister Hancock said the new variant is “far more worrying” and those who have been asked to be quarantined “should avoid meeting any other person. ”
Meanwhile, he announced that to control the virus, strict restrictions will be imposed on millions more people on Boxing Day.
Dr Susan Hopkins of Public Health England (Peachy) said that “both variants seem to be more contagious”, but they are still gathering more information about variants from South Africa.
He exuded confidence that quarantine and travel rules would help prevent the spread of new variants.
Prof. Lawrence Young of Warwick Medical School said, “Measures such as washing hands, touching the face and keeping social distancing will also help prevent this variant.”
He said that restrictions across the country need to be tightened.
What action is South Africa taking?
The government has tightened restrictions on the festival. Also, all the beaches along the popular Garden Route of the Western Cape Province have been closed.
Major opposition party Democratic Alliance and some lobby groups have opposed the government’s move. He has challenged this decision in the courts, saying that shutting down the middle will have a very bad effect on small businesses.
But the judges kept the restrictions, saying that it is the duty of the government to protect the health of the public.
Leader of the Western Cape Province Alan Winde said that the burden on the province’s hospitals is increasing. This time more cases of Covid-19 are coming against the first wave in the province.
So far, 950,0000 cases of corona infection have been reported in South Africa and more than 25,000 people have died. This is the largest figure in Africa.
