West Indies batsman Chris Gayle made history as he landed in the second ODI against India at the Port of Spain. Chris Gayle not only became the first cricketer to play 300 ODIs for the West Indies but he has also become the highest run-scorer in ODIs for the Indies, surpassing Brian Lara. Gayle was able to score only 11 runs in this match.

Chris Gayle has now become the highest run-scorer in ODIs by the West Indies team. Chris Gayle’s number of ODI runs reached 10353 as soon as he scored the 7th run in the match against India. Brian Lara scored 10348 runs in 295 matches for the West Indies in One Day International.

Apart from this, Chris Gayle left the runs of the ODI International matches playing for ICC and West Indies as soon as Chris Gayle scored the 9th run. Brian Lara scored 10405 runs for ICC XI and West Indies, while Chris Gayle has scored 10408 runs.

Let me tell you that prior to Chris Gayle, the record of playing the most ODI matches for the West Indies was in the name of former great batsman Brian Lara. Brian Lara played 299 ODIs for the West Indies. Shiv Narayan Chanderpaul is third in this list with 268 matches.

Let me tell you that Chris Gayle had announced his retirement after the World Cup, but expressing his desire to play his last ODI series against India, he postponed the decision to retire.

Gayle said, ‘This is a big achievement. I did not even think that I would ever reach this point. I thank God that I am playing my 300th match. No doubt, I am enjoying playing in this format.

West Indies captain Jason Holder called it a unique achievement. He said, ‘300 matches are too much. Some players in our dressing room cannot even imagine it.
