China typhoon leukemia death toll hits 49 in china

Beijing, agency. The death toll from Typhoon Leikima on China’s east coast has risen to 49. 21 people are still missing. China’s coastal areas have been completely evacuated.

Seeing the magnitude of the typhoon, more than one million people have been evacuated to safer places. This natural disaster has caused an economic loss of at least 26 billion yuan (US $ 3.7 billion).

China’s state-run news agency Xinhua has reported that winds are moving at a speed of 190 kilometers per hour, with the landslides in Xinjiang province on Saturday.

High waves along the banks are wreaking havoc. According to the agency, this typhoon is moving towards the north. Many coastal provinces of China, Xinjiang, Fujian, Jiangsu, and Shanghai have seen its greatest impact.

More than a million people are still taking shelter in many camps. 35 thousand people have become homeless. Their houses have been damaged or have been destroyed in the floods.

Landslides have occurred in coastal areas due to leukemia. Thousands of trees in the coastal areas have been uprooted due to strong winds along with torrential rain in the entire area. China has recorded the highest rainfall since 1952.

However, the Chinese government evacuated the affected area as soon as the alert was issued. Train and air travel and ferry services were canceled in the state. An alert has been issued for tourists in the typhoon-affected provinces.
