CAA Protest in UP: Funding source will be open from accounts of PFI members, the conspiracy was going on for a year

With the increasing arrest of members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in the violence against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in UP, the funding strings behind the deep conspiracy can also be revealed soon. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) already had accounts of 25 members and their close associates, including the state president of the organization Wasim Ahmed. Many big fact-finding agencies are expected to be involved in the investigation of transactions in the accounts of the 108 active members now arrested.

In fact, in Uttar Pradesh, for the past one year, the organization has been continuously making efforts to raise sections of youth against the government through offensive and inflammatory posters. The police had earlier registered several cases regarding this, but could not take any concrete action. DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi said that in the last four days, in the incidents of violence on 19 and 20 December 2019, the police arrested 108 more active members of PFI. The maximum of 21 accused were arrested in Meerut, 20 in Varanasi, 16 in Bahraich and 14 in Lucknow. The role of some others is being investigated in depth.

The Enforcement Directorate recently submitted a report to the Ministry of Home Affairs examining the bank accounts of PFI and its affiliates during the violent protests against the CAA, in which large amounts were deposited and withdrawn into the PFI account on certain dates in December Facts were revealed. After this report, the increased police action against PFI members in Uttar Pradesh is considered very important.

Police are also taking help of other investigative agencies to delve into the layers of conspiracy behind the incidents of violence. In these situations, the investigation of many bank accounts will be very special on some other dates of the same month besides December 19 and 20, 2019. There are apprehensions that large sums of money were deposited in several accounts of Uttar Pradesh and withdrawn.

In the past, after the role of PFI in the incidents of violence, the police administration had written a letter to the Central Government, recommending the organization to be banned like SIMI.

133 PFI members caught so far in UP

The planned role of PFI has emerged behind the violence against the CAA. After the ED tightened its grip on this organization, the UP Police has also taken major action. DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi said that in the last four days, in the incidents of violence on 19 and 20 December 2019, the police arrested 108 more active members of PFI. A total of 133 PFI members have been arrested so far in the state. These include 14 in Lucknow, three in Sitapur, 21 in Meerut, nine in Ghaziabad, six in Muzaffarnagar, seven in Shamli, four in Bijnor, 20 in Varanasi, five in Kanpur, one in Gonda, 16 in Bahraich, one in Hapur and Jaunpur. – There has been an arrest.

Following the ban on the Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) organization in 2001, the National Development Front Kerala, Manitha Nithi Parsai Tamil Nadu and Karnataka Forum for Dignity Organizations held a joint conference in 2006, followed by Kerala on 22 November 2006. The Popular Front of India (PFI) was established. According to intelligence reports, many senior officials and members of SIMI have played an active role in the PFI.
