If someone tells you that you will get your home in just 80 rupees, then you may laugh at this. But, it is true … Italy is getting houses at a very nominal price. Houses built for just Rs 80 are being sold in a city of Italy, which is facing a constantly decreasing population. Authorities in Sambuca, a village on the island of Sicily, Italy, have announced the plan to deal with the ever-decreasing population.
The city council of Sicily is itself helping foreigners settle there. The local authorities decided that the old abandoned houses in the village should be sold for just one euro, that is, about eighty rupees. The population of the village is only 5,800 as the local people have moved to settle in either the nearby cities or abroad. Therefore, the city council of Sambuka has decided to buy the old vacant houses and sell it to people around the world at a low price so that new people can be attracted to settle here.
Mayor of Sambuca, Leonardo Ciccio, said that the city council, after completing legal proceedings, worked to buy these houses first and then started auctioning them. The first 16 houses have been auctioned. Not only this, all the houses are bought by people from abroad. It is seen that this scheme has proved to be effective. Artists and other people from all over the world have shown interest in it. People are eager to come to Sambuca.
Sambuca’s deputy mayor and architect Giuseppe Cacioppo said that the people who bought these houses are musicians, dance artists, journalists, and writers. It is a very good thing that these people are reputed professionals. People from abroad can come here and admire the natural beauty here. Sambuca has become famous in the world overnight due to plans to get a house for one euro. So far 60 houses have been sold at normal prices.
Purchasing cheap houses available in Sambuca is just a condition that the buyers themselves bear the cost incurred in repairing the house. Also, the first person who buys a house will have to deposit a refundable security amount of £ 5,000, ie, about four lakh rupees. Not only this, but the cost of repairing the house is also predetermined. The authority has fixed its initial price of £ 15,000 i.e. around Rs. 12 lakh. Homebuyers are also being given three years for repair work.
Earlier, officials of the Italian village of Cannadela made a similar offer. The officials had announced that whoever buys a house to live here, they will provide the house for free. Not only this, they will also give around 2,000 euros ie about Rs 1,63,749.73 lakhs. Actually, this village too was rapidly becoming empty. The youth here have moved to nearby cities for a search of business and other reasons. It seemed that in some time this village would become completely deserted.
