Building Collapse in Maharashtra: Two died, 18 still stranded in building collapse in Raigad; Rescue operation in progress
Search and rescue operations are continuing in the Kajalpura area of Raigad district of Maharashtra after a building collapse on Monday evening. According to Raigad District Collector Nidhi Chaudhary, so far two deaths, 18 are still feared trapped and 60 people are being rescued .

Maharashtra Minister Aditi Tatkare said at least 60 people have been rescued and 18 people are feared trapped under the debris after a five-storey building collapsed in Mahad in Raigad district of Maharashtra. Significantly, Maharashtra ministers Aditi Tatkare and Eknath Shinde visited the spot, a building collapsed in Kajalpura area of Raigad district on Monday evening.
Three National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are engaged in rescue operations on the spot. The deaths of two people are reported and the injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment while the moderately injured have been discharged from the hospital.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray expressed confidence of all possible help
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that the government will help the affected families. “Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed the Director General (DG), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to provide all possible assistance for rescue operations at the scene. IPS, DG NDRF, Satya Narayan Pradhan gave information on Twitter and told that three teams of NDRF are leaving from Pune for rescue operations with all special equipment.
The building was only 10 years old
This five-story residential building was only ten years old when the accident took place in Raigad. There were 45 flats in this building. Local people say that the building was shaking about an hour before the accident, after which some people were evacuated. Many questions have also arisen regarding the fall of this building in this way. CM Uddhav Thackeray has spoken to the officials to get information about the situation and has given instructions to expedite the rescue work. Some videos of the accident have also gone viral.
