Better vaccine or natural disease resistant ability to fight corona, debate erupted among scientists

Read Time:2 Minute, 3 Second

The Corona vaccine of companies such as Pfizer and Moderna has achieved significant success in trials last month. According to US Senator Rand Paul, these vaccines have been effective at 90 and 94.5 percent, respectively. Paul claimed in a tweet that the immunity of natural disease is 99.9982 percent effective. After this, a new debate has erupted among experts.

Disease cannot be chosen instead of vaccine

Senator Paul himself has suffered from the disease. Despite this, he says that there is less risk of a corona infection to recover naturally, than a vaccine. However, University of Toronto immunologist Jennifer Gowerman completely dismisses the senator’s argument. He says that while it is still not decided whose corona infection will harm his life and who is able to fight it, such arguments are confusing. The disease cannot be chosen at all, instead of the vaccine. The advantage of the vaccine is that it is known beforehand and is also safe.

Vaccine effective in preventing disease

According to experts, the Kovid-19 vaccine is quite effective and safe in preventing disease. Corona vaccines also fall into this category. Volunteers who received Moderna’s vaccine received more antibodies. Paul says that it is more effective to develop natural disease resistant ability against the corona virus. When large populations become infected, antibodies and immune cells develop, which help fight diseases. The evidence found so far suggests that such a disease-resistant capacity may persist for a long time and help fight diseases. According to epidemiologist Bill Haines, people who are mildly infected may lose their immunity in a few months and are likely to become infected again. Vaccines are a relatively better option for such people.

If you are healthy and young…

Immunologist Marion Papper of the University of Washington says that natural disease cannot be relied upon for resistance. The vaccine is a more effective option for people with obesity, diabetes, as they are at greater risk of corona infection. According to Gouermann, corona infection has nothing to do with age. However, life risk is relatively low when healthy and young are infected.

Better choice for the infected:

According to experts, if a person has Kovid-19 then it is safe to take the vaccine. Even to some extent beneficial. According to the expert papper, you can get a better immune response by vaccine. However, if you have had a corona infection before, then you can wait for the vaccine
