Read Time:1 Minute, 38 Second

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has apologized to a woman working in the Australian Parliament.

The woman accused an unnamed person of raping her in Parliament House.

The Prime Minister has also ordered an inquiry into the matter.

The 26-year-old woman alleged that she was raped in the office of Defense Minister Linda Reynolds in March 2019, and the convict is a senior activist of Scott Morrison ruling Liberal Party.

Talking to the local media, the woman said, “I spoke to the policemen about this in April 2019, but worrying about my job, I decided that I would have to report to the office first. I was afraid that my job might go away. “

The local police confirmed the woman’s claim and said that she had not registered a police case, but had decided to officially report it in the office.

The woman also claims that she had given full information about the incident to the office of the Defense Minister, but in the same room where she was raped, a meeting was held with her and the matter was discussed.

On Monday, Reynolds confirmed that he had come to know about the incident last year. However, he said that no pressure was made on the woman to complain or not to the police.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has officially apologized to the woman for the incident and ordered an inquiry into it.

On Tuesday, he said, “The first thing is that it should not have happened. But I apologize for what happened. We want to ensure that women are safe at the workplace and they trust the system for their safety. It is disturbing that even today a woman had to face such a situation. ”

According to local media, PM Scott Morrison was under pressure to act on this incident as there were complaints of mistreatment of women within the Liberal Party earlier.
