Australia strengthened its grip by dismissing Pakistan for 240 runs on the first day of the first cricket test. In the first session, Pakistan scored 57 runs without any loss. In the following seasons, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins unraveled Pakistani batting.
Stark took four wickets for 52 runs, while Cummins got three and Hazlewood got two wickets. At one time Pakistan’s score was 75 runs without any loss, which was 78 for four and then 94 for five.
Asad Shafiq scored 76 runs for Pakistan. He shared a 49-run partnership with Mohammad Rizwan, who scored 37 runs. Also added 84 runs with Yasir Shah (26).
In the first session, Pakistani batsmen Azhar Ali and Shan Masood scored 57 runs without any loss. Later he started playing aggressive shots, but the Australian bowlers regained their rhythm and brought Pakistan to the backfoot.
First Masood (27) was caught by Cummins on the ball going out of the off stump to Steve Smith in the second slip. Azhar (39) on the next ball caught Joe Burns in the first slip off Hazlewood. Since then, the series of Pakistani wickets continued.
