Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur has responded to a letter written by Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deal with the Corona epidemic. He said that the states are getting 70 percent of the revenue generated from GST on the vaccine.
Kharge asked to be vaccinated for free
Kharge had said in his letter that all the people should be vaccinated free of cost, using the Rs 35 thousand crore allocated in the budget for the fight against Corona. Posting Kharge’s letter on Twitter, Thakur said that the GST on the corona vaccine supplied by the government is also paid by him.
Half of the GST gets to the center and half to the states – Thakur
Anurag Thakur said that the center and half the states get half of the GST on the vaccine. Later, 41 percent of the share received by the Center goes to the states, thus the states get a total of 70 percent of the vaccine’s revenue.
