America urges India to protect the rights of religious minorities
Washington, Agency. On the Citizenship Amendment Bill, the US State Department has said that India is a democratic country. Therefore, the United States hopes that it will protect the democratic values and rights of minorities in their country.
The US response came at a time when the House of Representatives has proposed the Kashmir issue.
A spokesman for the US State Department said on Thursday that we are closely following developments in relation to the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
Religious freedom and equal treatment under the law are the core principles of our two democracies.
The spokesman said that the US urges India to protect the rights of its religious minorities keeping in mind the Constitution of India and democratic values.
