America removed Defense Production Act, now supply chain will be smooth: Taranjit Singh Sandhu

India’s Ambassador to America Taranjit Singh Sandhu informed about the removal of the Defense Production Act from the Washington side. He said, ‘The US has also announced the removal of this Act, which means that priority oversupply has no meaning anymore. It won’t be needed. This will ease the supply chain for the corona vaccine, especially AstraZeneca and Novavax manufacturing.

White House Covid-19 Response Coordinator Jeff Giants said on Thursday that the US will repeal the Defense Production Act. In his statement, he mentioned the corona vaccines AstraZeneca, Novavax, and Sanofi as the main ones.

Recently, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was on a US tour. Today, the demand for Indian vaccines is high in the world and now the US has lifted the ban on the export of raw materials needed for supply. Although initially, the US-controlled the export of goods under the ‘Defense Production Act, and US State Department spokesman Ned Price defended this policy, saying that India should slow down its vaccination campaign because Biden The administration’s first responsibility is to take care of the needs of the American people.

It is noteworthy that due to the Defense Production Act of America, some restrictions on the export of raw materials of companies there apply. In early February, the US government capped raw material exports to boost domestic production of the vaccine.
