Allegations of human rights violations in Jammu Kashmir must be probed UK
London: The UK said on Tuesday that since the removal of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, any allegations of human rights violations in Kashmir should undergo a ‘thorough, speedy and transparent’ investigation.
Britain’s Foreign Minister Dominic Raab told MPs in the ‘House of Commons’ in the first session of Parliament after a long summer vacation that he held talks with India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on 7 August.
During the talks, he expressed concern and Britain will keep a careful watch on the situation in Kashmir.
He was answering a verbal question. During this, many questions related to the Kashmir issue were asked.
Raab said that he raised the issue of custody, possible misconduct and communication stagnation with the Indian Foreign Minister.
The Government of India has clarified that they are only temporary and are in dire need. He said that allegations of human rights violations are worrying and should be investigated thoroughly and promptly.
India has clearly told the international community that abolishing Article 370 is its internal matter.
The minister reiterated the British position that the Kashmir issue is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan. He, however, insisted that human rights concerns made it an international issue.
