Uttar Pradesh DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Hitesh Chandra Awasthi is on the front line of the race to become the director of the country’s top investigative agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Awasthi, who has served 14 years in different positions in the CBI, is in the list of three people. One of these will be posted as Director.

After Om Prakash (OP) Singh, Hitesh Chandra Awasthi, who has held the post of Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh since March 2020, was named among the three officers of the race to become the Director of CBI on Monday, one of whose names will be stamped. . Along with PM Narendra Modi, Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary and Chief Justice of India NV Ramanna, who were on the panel, gave a detailed consultation for the selection of the post of Director. Among the hundreds, the last three were finalists, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Hitesh Chandra Awasthi, Director General of the Armed Border Force KR Chandra and Special Secretary in the Planetary Ministry VSK Kaumudi. After the long list of contenders for the post, the appointment of the new CBI director is expected to be announced soon.

Avasthi can gain experience: Uttar Pradesh DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi , who is in the race of three IPS officers for the post of the head of the country’s largest investigative agency, can gain from his previous experience in this investigative agency. Hitesh Chandra Awasthi, a 1985 batch IPS officer, has long experience of working in CBI. He has served in different positions in CBI for over 14 years.

The tenure of Hitesh Chandra Awasthi, the chief of the state police, is being completed on June 30, 2021. Prior to this, he may get the responsibility of holding the highest post of CBI. Originally resident of Lucknow, Hitesh Chandra Awasthi has been posted as SP in CBI from 1994 to 2001 during the central deputation for the first time. Hitesh Chandra Awasthi, known for his clean image, also served as DIG in Central Investigation Agency for about one and a half years between 2000 and 2001. Subsequently, he was posted as IG / Joint Director in Central CBI from 2007 to 2013 and carried out several important investigations under his leadership.

Hitesh Chandra Awasthi was also the SP of Tehri Garhwal and Haridwar in undivided Uttar Pradesh. Before becoming DGP, he was posted in the important post of DG Vigilance in the state. He was also posted as DG Anti-Corruption Organization and EOW. Awasthi was promoted from ADG to DG post in 2016 with a long experience of working in investigating agencies. He was appointed acting DGP of Uttar Pradesh on 31 January 2020 and full-time DGP on 4 March 2020.
