Many people in the country are waiting for the first dose of the Covid vaccine.

Bharat Biotech announced to increase its production by an additional 200 million on 20 May. This announcement has come at a time when many people in the country are waiting for the first dose of Covid vaccine.

In a press release, Suchitra Alla, co-founder of Bharat Biotech, said that the company has decided to increase the additional manufacturing capacity of COVAXIN in its subsidiary Chiron Behring Vaccines in Ankleshwar, Gujarat.

“The company plans to make 200 million COVAXIN doses annually. GMP facilities are already in operation for inactivated hero cell platform technology based vaccine production. ”

Bharat Biotech said that product availability in Ankleshwar will start from the fourth quarter of 2021.

Apart from this, the company claimed that it has already started several production lines at the Hyderabad and Bangalore campuses.

In early April, the company increased its production to 70 million doses annually.

Adding Chiron Behring to the line up, the company said that this would increase production volumes to 1 billion doses annually.
