New Delhi, Business Desk. For some services, it is mandatory to associate the Aadhaar number with the Permanent Account Number (PAN). Although there is no link between the two to file IT return, the return will be filed. The tax department does not process returns until the PAN and Aadhaar are linked. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) had earlier fixed 31 March 2021 as the last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar. But it has once again been extended to 30 June. Know how to check

Step 1: Go to the Income Tax e-filing website and go to Aadhaar status or click here – incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/aadhaarstatus

Step 2: Enter PAN and Aadhaar Number

Step 3: Click on ‘Link Aadhaar Status View

Step 3: Click on ‘Link Aadhaar Status View’

Step 4: Linking status will appear on next screen

How to check via SMS

For this, users have to send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 by writing UIDPAN <12 digit Aadhaar number> <10 digits Permanent Account Number>.

If the linking is done, then “Aadhaar … is already associated with PAN”.
