22 cases registered on violence in tractor rally, tight security at Red Fort
After yesterday’s ruckus at the Red Fort, security has been increased in the Red Fort today.
As a precautionary measure in Delhi, many routes are still closed after the violence during the tractor rally on Republic Day in Delhi. The route from ITO to Connaught Place has been closed, while the Red Fort Metro station is also closed today. Yesterday, 22 FIRs have been registered in connection with the violence during the tractor rally of farmers, according to police sources, 5 FIRs have been registered in the Eastern range so far.
After yesterday’s ruckus at the Red Fort, security has been increased in the Red Fort today. A group of protesters climbed the fort pole and hoisted their flag yesterday.
On Tuesday, the violent incident of farmers and the hoisting of religious flag at the Red Fort, the Ministry of Home Affairs has taken very seriously. Home Minister Amit Shah has called an emergency meeting at his residence and directed the deployment of additional security forces in the capital. Additional security forces will be deployed at all heritage and sensitive locations.
Instructions have also been issued to Delhi Police to identify those responsible for the violence in the capital and take legal action against them. Taking the violent form of the tractor parade of farmers in the capital on Tuesday and taking seriously the incident of clash with police at many places, Home Minister Amit Shah met the top officials of the ministry and Delhi Police and reviewed the security arrangements in the capital.
