After this, in the year 1954, a human was found infected with this virus in Nigeria. It did not get much attention. Cases were then reported in Africa and South East Asia, although the number of cases was quite small. After this, in the year 2007, attention was given to this dangerous virus. At this time, its impact was seen on Africa for the first time and the risk of the virus increased outside of Asia. Yap Island exists in the country of the Federated State of Micronesia, located in the Pacific Ocean. Here some people showed symptoms of Zika virus, which was believed to be dengue and chikungunya.

These symptoms included rash and joint pain. When these people were examined, RNA of Zika virus was found in the blood. In 2013 there was a significant outbreak of Zika virus infection in French Polynesia and other countries of the Pacific. After this, Zika virus cases were confirmed in the Pacific Ocean in the year 2014 to French Polynesia and then in 2015 in Mexico, Central Africa. Then in the same year (2015) in March, a rash disease was also seen in Brazil. Which was identified as Zika virus infection. In the same year it was found to be associated with Guillab Barre syndrome. According to the data, till date there has been evidence of outbreak of Zika infection in a total of 86 countries and regions.
