Coronavirus News Update: Droplets will help to understand the spread of diseases like corona
According to Coronavirus News Update Mehendley, a better understanding of the behavior of small droplets would make it easier to set safety guidelines during aerosol production processes.

London, Pratr. Coronavirus News Update  Scientists have developed a new framework to understand the spread of droplets of different sizes emitted during coughing and sneezing. This can help in effectively detecting the methods of spread of diseases like Covid-19.

The study published in the Journal of Physics Fluids set the maximum limits for small, medium and large sized droplets using mathematical formulas. Scientists at the University of Edinburgh, UK, included in the team of researchers, concluded that this could be important for understanding the spread of diseases such as Covid-19.

Kaithal Cummins of Heriot-Watt University, UK, co-author of the study, said he wanted to develop a mathematical model of the processes of breathing and sneezing and coughing to find out how physics related to it. He stated that during the above procedures different sized droplets come out of the nose, which move with the wind.

According to the researchers, this new study provides a general framework for understanding the spread of droplets. He said that with the help of this model it can be found out when the series of droplets will be small.

Felicity Mehendle of the University of Edinburgh, co-author of the study, said that our study shows that there is not a linear relationship between small droplets and dispersion.

Both small and large type of droplets spread much more than medium sized droplets. Mehendale said that we cannot ignore small droplets. He says that personal protective equipment (PPE) used by health workers and doctors is effective for large droplets, but may be less effective for smaller droplets.

Scientists say he is currently working on a plan to manufacture aerosol extractor devices to keep doctors safe during aerosol-producing procedures that occur regularly in medicine and dentistry. He said that if such a device is placed near small droplets, which is able to absorb them, it can help to prevent it.

Cummins said the device would prove to be very important in preventing the Covid-19 epidemic. He also said that larger droplets can be easily captured by PPE, masks and face shields, but smaller droplets are able to penetrate certain types of PPE. In such a case, the new device can be helpful in strengthening the weakness of our current defense system against Covid-19 and future epidemics.

According to Mehendale, a better understanding of the behavior of small droplets would make it easier to set safety guidelines during aerosol production processes. In this way, it can help prevent current and future epidemics as well as other infectious diseases.
