New Delhi Oxford Coronavirus Vaccine The  UK-based Oxford Univocity and AstraZeneca Company’s COVID-19 vaccine has been safe and effective in early trials. According to the Serum Institute of India, it is going to trial its third phase in India in late August. In this, vaccines will be tested on about 4-5 thousand people. Along with older people, health workers will also be a part of this trial. This vaccine has been named ‘KovidShield’ in India. The Serum Institute of India has tied up with Oxford for its production. Let’s know how this vaccine works.

New vaccine for new virus: Several types of vaccine are being tried to meet the challenge of corona virus. Oxford University Vaccine, also known as AZD 1222. It is also a vaccine similar to that of Chinese biochemists in China. Johnson & Johnson of the US is one of a similar vaccine, which relies on the genetic engineering of the virus. It serves adenoviruses with the aim that it will stimulate the immune system.

Immune system builds antibodies to defeat foreign elements: This vaccine from Oxford University is based on a weak version of the common cold virus or adenovirus (CHADOX1), which causes infection in chimpanzees. It is derived from adenoviruses from chimpanzees. Also, its genetic engineering is done, so that its replication is not made in the human body.

When given to a genetically engineered CHADOX1 individual with the spike protein of the corona virus, it forms the spike protein. The body’s immune system recognizes this and begins to form endibodies to defeat external elements. According to the primary results of the first and second stages, a four-fold increase in antibodies against the SARS-COV-2 virus spike was reported in 95 percent of participants a month after the injection of a single dose of this vaccine. Along with this, T-cells, a type of white blood cells, remember and attack the corona virus.

This is how the vaccine works

How long will the vaccine come: In Britain, 10,000 people are being tested for the second and third phase, only after that the vaccine will be evaluated for licensing. Large-scale trials are also being conducted in Brazil and South Africa, while 30,000 people are ready to study in the US. Experts believe that this vaccine will come by the end of this year after getting the desired results. AstraZeneca has stated that it is committed to supplying 2 billion vaccines to governments and other agencies. In India, Pune-based Serum Institute of India has tied up for a billion dose of supply in middle and low income countries, including India.
