Kurdish journalist wife and son shot dead in Iraq
Baghdad: A television journalist, his wife, and son were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the town of Sulaimaniyah in northeast Iraq.
The official of the channel informed about this. According to the news agency Xinhua, NRT channel head Schwen Adal reported, “The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the gunman opened fire on Amanj Baban, his wife Lana Mohammadi and son Hano.”
Adal told Xinhua, “The victim had no enemy … We are waiting for the security forces in Sulaimaniyah to start investigating the case.”
Baban used to present the popular program ‘Without out Borders’ on NRT. His wife Mohammadi was previously an anchor in Kardasat, a local channel for many years.
NRT is an independent channel in Kurdistan, a semi-autonomous region of Iraq, broadcasting in both Arabic and Kurdish languages.
