Amitabh Bachchan Is A Phenomenon And He Did Extraordinary Things In His Film Career
From Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna to Shah Rukh Khan, all these stars reached the heights of superstardom in one phase, but the one person who maintains it even after decades remained Amitabh Bachchan.
America’s first President Abraham Lincoln once said – almost every human being can face hardships and misdeeds, but if you want to know the real character of a person, then give him power. Things like power, stardom, and fame are neither easy to achieve nor can they be maintained.
Since the beginning of Bollywood, there have been many such stars who have managed to achieve all this. The era of these stars came, they set a trend with establishing themselves in Bollywood, and then saw this stardom in front of them without any unwanted pass on. From Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna to Shah Rukh Khan, all these stars reached the heights of superstardom in one phase, but the one person who is maintaining it even after decades remained Amitabh Bachchan.
Amitabh Bachchan’s stardom, which won the tag of Angry Young Man after giving a dozen flops, began in the 70s. This was the period when buying tickets to his films seemed like a chakravyuh among the extremely crowded crowd. This was the same period when French director Francis Trofu started calling him One Man Industry. Almost all the artists in Bollywood today are fascinated by Amitabh’s films, filled with adrenaline rush and inspired to enter the industry. Bachchan’s magical realism cinema became the medium of escapism for many people. Vinod Khanna must have come close to him but at that time Amitabh Bachchan was at the heart of the people and had become an integral part of cinematic culture.
Stardom still stands today
Time changed and Amitabh also started adapting himself accordingly. Due to their flexibility, they now switched to the mainstream character actor’s formula instead of traditional lead roles. There are many roles like Aks, Paa, Black, Shamitabh, Piku in which Amitabh experimented and also got success many times. Wounded, went through financial crisis but managed to handle himself every time. In the midst of so many ups and downs, he has been humbly acknowledging his achievements and giving credit of his success to the costars and directors. With the same humility, he also greets the crowds at his bungalow every Sunday. DDLJ may have moved away from the theater in Mumbai after two decades, but this crowd, which came to Amitabh’s house after forty years, still continues to come.
Amitabh would still be a part of the main plot of films and especially the roles are still written for him. He has now been transformed into a brand with stardom. TV also hosts the most successful shows and takes away over 100 crores for a very different type of film like 102 Not Out. For the last 20 years, 25 percent have been working continuously with liver.
France’s highest civilian award has been made in his name and even at the age of 77, he remains alive. For many, the arrival of Amitabh in Bollywood is a magical event which has completely changed the landscape of this industry, for many it is the biggest superhero of the century. But in the midst of all this the artist is lost somewhere, who is so attached to cinema that he wants to be part of the silver screen till his death.
