when Pant and Iyer got up together to get number 4 in Bengaluru

South Africa beat India by nine wickets in the third and final T20 match played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. After this victory, South Africa drew a three-match T20 series 1-1. The first match of the series was canceled due to rain, while India won the second match by seven wickets.
An interesting incident occurred during this match when both Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer got up to bat at number four. Actually, Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed as the second wicket. Virat Kohli himself was batting at one end. For the past few matches, Rishabh Pant has been batting at number four, but in Bangalore, Iyer too was ready to take on this position.
Ultimately, Virat Kohli had to be clarified after the match. He told during the post-match press conference, ‘It happened at that time due to misunderstanding. Due to a misunderstanding between the team management and the two players, both the batsmen started coming on the field, after which I cleared this misconception.
Virat said, ‘Actually, both (Pant-Iyer) had a talk with batting coach Vikram Rathore. We had decided that under which circumstances, which batsman will land first. The funniest thing is that both the batsmen wanted to come to play at number-4.
The captain said, ‘Our strategy for this match was something like this. We had decided that if 10 overs were over, then Rishabh Pant would go for batting. If the wicket falls before that, Iyer will come for batting. But both players got confused and could not understand who had to get down first.
Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed in the eighth over. In such a situation, according to Virat’s plan, Shreyas Iyer should have come for batting, but Pant was dropped. Significantly, Rishabh Pant is failing repeatedly at number 4, in such a situation, the demand for Iyer to be dropped at number four has started to arise.
