Gavaskar said, ‘But Rohit Sharma probably has more shots than Sehwag. Sehwag may not have hit the ball towards the on-side so many times. Rohit uses the bridge and hooks shots well. Rohit has more attacking shots. If Rohit can strengthen his defense against good balls, then he can succeed in Test cricket like Sehwag.

Gavaskar said, “Rohit, if bowlers like Rabada face well, then they can play long innings in the upcoming Test series against South Africa.” Gavaskar said, “The way Hanuma Vihari has batted in the middle order, it seems difficult for Rohit Sharma to return to the middle order, so he has a good chance to prove himself in the opening.”

Gavaskar said, ‘We will know after one or two Test matches. There are good wickets in Visakhapatnam and Pune. If Rohit can play a good inning on these pitches, then he can start well in the next two or three years.
