Pakistan closed Samjhauta Express forever
Pakistan Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that he has decided to stop the Samjhauta Express ‘forever’.
This step has been taken by India after removing the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir and reorganizing the state.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has also confirmed this. However, there is no response from India yet in this regard.
Angry Pakistan has so far taken many reactionary steps. It has stopped bilateral trade with India.
With this, Pakistan has decided to send back the Indian High Commissioner from here and recall its High Commissioner from India.
On Thursday, before closing the Samjhauta Express, it closed its airspace to Indian planes.
Regarding Samjhauta Express, Pakistan Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said that It cannot be that the Kashmiris are oppressed and the democracies of Pakistan keep watching the spectacle.
In such a situation, Samjhauta Express has been abolished forever.
He said that Those who have money for tickets will not be deducted. All the money will be returned.”
What is the history of ‘ Samjhauta
The train drivers and guards from Wagah bring it to Attari but Pakistan has refused to send them with the train. This train covers a distance of three kilometers between Wagah and Attari.
Samjhauta Express is a two-day weekly train between India and Pakistan which runs on the track from Attari to Lahore before partition.
This train was started from Lahore to Amritsar on 22 July 1976 after the Shimla Agreement. Later in 1994, it started running between Attari and Lahore.
This train has been offering tension between India and Pakistan. Whenever there is a conflict between the two countries, this service is stopped.
Recently, this train service was stopped after the extremist attack in Pulwama, India administered Kashmir.
