3 convicts including life imprisonment, including life imprisonment for kidnapping of kidney after gangrape / gang rape

• Pathankot court on Monday convicted 6 accused, acquitted of mastermind Sanjhi Ram’s son Vishal
• SPO Surendra Verma, SI Anant Dutt, Head Constable Tilak Raj sentenced to 5-5 years
• In January, 2018, the child was murdered after mass gang rape in Kathua 

     Pathankot In connection with the gang rape and murder of a 8-year-old girl in Kathua in Pathankot, on Monday, 3 out of 6 convicts were sentenced to life imprisonment. Court has given death sentence to Mastermind Pradhan Sanjhi Ram, Police Officer Deepak Khajuria, Enkant Kumar, for the incident. They have been fined 1-1 lakhs. While SPO Surendra Verma, SI Anant Dutt, Head Constable Tilak Raj has been sentenced to 5-5 years in jail for evading the evidence.

The Crime Branch filed a chart sheet against all 8 accused in April last year. One of them is a minor, his case is going on in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. Pathankot court on Monday convicted 6 accused, including Sanjhi Ram, while acquitting one accused.

Sanjhi Ram was the  mastermind of the events

According to the charge sheet, Sanjhi Ram was the mastermind of the whole event. After kidnapping, the child was kept in her supervised temple. The court convicted two SPO Deepak Khajuria and Surendra Verma, SI Anant Dutt, Head Constable Tilak Raj and Ennman Kumar alias Mannu. While Sanjhi Ram’s son acquitted Gammal

On the order of the Supreme Court, the case was transferred to Pathankot and the
Kathua case was tried to give communal colors. After this, the then Mehbooba Mufti Government appointed two advocates of Sikh community for lobbying. The lawyers had stopped the police from filing a charge sheet in the Jammu and Kashmir court. Only after this, the case was caught and the Supreme Court ordered the transfer of the fast track court of Pathankot to the hearing of the case.

The child’s corpse body was found in the forest,
the victim’s child of the minority Bakarwal community lived in Rasna village of Kathua district. After abducting in January 2018, he was held hostage in a village temple. It was gang-raped here for several days, then the head was crushed. After this, on 17th January, his body was recovered from a forest in a decayed condition.
